On 1 July 2010, the Court of Appeal delivered judgement in two important linked cases on what is a ‘house‘ for the purposes of the Leasehold Reform Act 1967. It was held that buildings which were originally built as houses were within the statute even though they were being used for business purposes; in the first case, to provide short-term accommodation for tourists, and in the second, as offices.
